What a Ghanaian business actually gets

Nothing is taken off any order on any plan, including Free. Against a delivery app taking a reported 15 to 30%, that is the whole argument.
The MoMo preset, in production
Manual transfer ships with a Mobile Money preset: the customer sends, you confirm, and the order is only marked paid when you say so. It is not a theory. It is what our live Accra shop takes orders on.
No card gateway for the cedi, and we will not pretend
None of the online gateways in this product is wired for a Ghanaian acquirer. Cash and MoMo work today.
Your own domain, if you want it
The Accra shop we run is on its own domain, not on ala.menu. That is a Pro feature, and the menu keeps working on both addresses.
One QR that survives everything
The printed code points at ala.menu/q/yourcode, allocated once and never reissued. Rename the menu, redo the prices, do not reprint.

- Bolt Food is the incumbent. Chowdeck entered Accra in May 2025 (TechCabal, April 2025). Hubtel is the local super-app, and Yango runs couriers in Kumasi rather than a restaurant marketplace. Two names that are no longer here: Glovo shut down in Ghana on 2024-05-10, and Jumia Food was discontinued across seven markets in December 2023.
- What they take
- Reported ranges only, and attributed as such. Bolt Food is typically put at 15 to 30%, with one merchant publicly claiming 30% in Ghana. Chowdeck has published no Ghana-specific rate; the roughly 25% figure that circulates is a group take rate, not a Ghana number. Neither of these is a rate card, and this page does not treat them as one.

- Cash on delivery, and manual transfer with the MoMo preset alongside bank and other presets. The customer sends, you confirm, and a manual transfer never marks the order paid on its own. No online card gateway is wired for GHS.

- Ghana cedi, two decimals. Either as the base currency, or shown to customers through display conversion from a USD base at a rate and rounding step you set.

- English. The menu also translates into 20 other languages on Plus, if you ever need it.

A delivery app keeps your customer. Here the customer is yours.
On an aggregator the guest belongs to the app. The number, the name and the order history sit in their account, and reaching that same guest again means paying for them again. On a menu you own, all of it stays with you.
Customers
Every order writes a customer row: name, phone, how many orders, what they spent, when they last ordered. Open one and the full order history is there, with a phone number you can actually call. On Plus.
CSV export
Export the whole list, or only the customers who agreed to hear from you, with orders, spend, and first and last order dates. It is your list, in a file, whenever you want it. On Pro.
Promo codes
Bring a guest back with a code you set yourself: a percentage, a fixed amount, or free delivery. It can apply on its own, be limited to a first order, or be usable once per phone number. On Plus.
Reviews
The rating and the written feedback come to you. You choose the mode: collect privately, send diners to your Google listing, or do both. On Plus.
Loyalty
A punch card that rewards every few orders, or a reward at a spend milestone, with the card saved in Apple and Google Wallet. Website orders stamp themselves; walk-ins and WhatsApp orders you stamp. On Pro.
Analytics
Menu views, unique visitors, the most tapped item, orders, the view-to-order rate, and the funnel from a view to a placed order. On Plus.

How much do Bolt Food and Chowdeck take per order?
Neither publishes a merchant rate card for Ghana. Bolt Food is typically reported at 15 to 30% of order value, with one merchant publicly claiming 30% here. Chowdeck has no Ghana-specific published rate; the roughly 25% figure you may see is a group take rate. Treat both as reported, not as fact. An order through your own page costs 0%.
Do Glovo or Jumia Food still operate in Ghana?
No. Glovo shut down in Ghana on 2024-05-10, and Jumia discontinued food delivery across seven markets, Ghana included, in December 2023. If a list still names them, that list is out of date.
Can customers pay with Mobile Money?
Yes, as a manual transfer. Manual transfer ships with a MoMo preset: you put in the number, the customer sends, and you confirm before the order moves. That is exactly how our live Accra shop runs. There is no automated MoMo gateway and no card gateway wired for the cedi.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, on Pro. Our own Accra shop is on its own domain rather than on ala.menu, and both addresses keep working. On Free and Plus the menu lives at ala.menu/yourname.
Do you actually have anyone live in Ghana?
Yes. A pet centre in East Legon, Accra, has been live on its own domain since 2026-09-17, taking orders on cash and MoMo. We are not naming it on this page until the owner says we may, but it is a real shop with real orders and not a demo.
What does it cost?
The catalogue, the templates, your Page and WhatsApp ordering are free, with no card and no trial. Website ordering with delivery zones and an order dashboard is Plus; a custom domain, branches and loyalty are Pro. Paid plans are priced by region, so the figure for you is on the pricing page.
